Karmen is a design leader with a passion for mentorship
With 13+ years of experience, Karmen has designed products and services with a wide range of corporate partners. She has worked with product and innovation teams at Sports Illustrated, Chase, Freddie Mac, H&R Block, Verizon, and Bristol Meyers Squibb, successful Fin-Techs, and passionate start-up founders. She is currently the Director of Design at MX, a Fin-Tech with the mission to empower the world to be financially strong.
In addition to envisioning, designing, and launching game-changing products and services with her clients, Karmen is passionate about mentoring other designers throughout their career. She is dedicated to creating design teams where designers can learn and grow every day through mutual support.
Passionate about thought leadership and learning, Karmen loves developing new voices to share their perspective on design with the world. At her time at BCG Digital Ventures, she has launched Digital Day and Design factor, premier thought leadership platforms across design and technology.
In 2023, Karmen ran BCG Digital Venture’s first annual Digital Day, a conference where we brought together thought leaders from across the company to share their point of view on Building the Future. She coached all the speakers as they found their voice, crafted their sessions, and got the nerves out before they went on stage. We heard so many diverse and interesting points of view on building a future that’s better—from Blockchain and W3, to innovation happening in Africa, learning to bring our best selves to work, and even to the development of the espresso martini.
Karmen gave a talk about one of her heroes, Dolly Parton, and the example she is of living her values in everything she does. We're all called to show the world what we care about by the way we live our lives, especially as designers and technologists who are building the future.
